That’s because she’s going to see Santa on the Strasburg Railroad Santa Express.
If you are like me, your weekends are filled with looking for things to do with the kids. And come November? I am always searching for holiday activities for kids.
I’ve been to the Strasburg Railroad when I was a kid, but never during the holiday season, and if we did, I’m pretty sure I would have been out of my mind with excitement.
If you are looking for holiday activities for kids this year, the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania is offering its Santa Express. Santa himself will climb aboard and visit with families as they travel down the tracks to Paradise, PA and back. As a special treat, children ages 3 to 11 will receive a gift from Santa and his helper.
After the train ride, children are treated to storybook readings of holiday classics. Everyone can also enjoy a ride aboard the Tinsel Trolley, a self-propelled motor car.
But wait- there’s more. Being the awesome mom I am, I suffer through enjoy Thomas the Train with my babe ANY time she wants to watch.
I know, I should get a medal, right?
While you are there, you can also visit Choo Choo Barn!The barn features a giant model train set decked out for the holidays.
The 1,700 square foot model train extravaganza, which includes 150 hand-built animations and 22 moving trains. Enjoy the holiday decorations throughout the display including holiday lights and the snow-covered landscape. Plus, take a close look at the zoo animals in Traintown to see how they’re getting into the holiday spirit.
The Santa Express and Choo Choo Barn are great holiday activities for kids.
Disclosure: My family was given free tickets to the Santa Express and Choo Choo Barn. But in my quest to find something to do with the kids on the weekends, this would have been right up there anyway!

My kids adore the Strasburg Railroad- they’re still talking about our Day Out with Thomas in June- but we’ve never checked out the Santa Express or the Choo Choo Barn. Thanks for the heads up!
