A Snake Almost Ate My Family

by e on May 16, 2012

First, I need to disclose something. I have a tendency to overreact.

That being said, what would you have done if you finished walking your dog to come back and find THIS on the back porch?

Okay, not so much that, but how about THIS?

Garden black snake

Guys, I know this snake was headed for the windows – just trying to slither his way first into my son’s crib, and then into our bed to eat us alive.

Seriously! That’s what snakes do! They eat families!

Look at this sucker!

Naturally, I did what any grown 35-year-old woman would do, I screamed, then called my father-in-law down to come kill it. Or do something!

Thankfully, he scooped it up in a net and threw it in the lake, where I hope it drowned a painful death.

We are living with my in-laws right now, and they happen to live on some gorgeous wooded land by a lake. Of course, this means there are a lot of natural “critters” around… like raccoons, red-tailed hawks and OH YEAH GIANT BLACK SNAKES.

From now on, I’m walking the dog with a giant shovel in hand.
